Monogamous Animals

Considering so many people have difficulty in maintaining relationships it is interesting to note that many species of animals have being doing it much more successfully than us humans.

The most commonly known is probably Swans:

Swans form monogamous pair bonds that last for many years, and in some cases these bonds can last for life. Their loyalty to their mates is so storied that the image of two swans swimming with their necks entwined in the shape of a heart has become a nearly universal symbol of love.

Carnival in Rio

Rio de Janeiro Carnival

 (in Portuguese: Carnaval) is a Catholic event by origin, but is also rooted in European pagan traditions. Originally, Carnival was a food festival, because it was the last time to eat abundantly before the 40 days of Lent, a period of frugality starting on Ash Wednesday. Legend says the word 'Carnaval' was derived from the Latin expression 'carne vale' which translates as 'farewell to the meat'.
The carnival in Brazil is a little different from its counterparts in Europe because it has a mixture of the European and African fundamentals, including the music, rhythm, and costumes which change a bit from one region of Brazil to the other. The annual Brazilian festival is filled with bright costumes, loud music and some of the world’s best dancers and is one of the biggest events on the Brazilian calendar.

Strange Animals

Some most unusual looking creatures out there......

The Sea-Pig
Swedish zoologist Johan Hjalmar Theel first discovered sea pigs over a century ago, as one of around 65 new species he described in writings about a four-year research cruise around the world aboard the HMS Challenger from 1872 to 1876. Since then, researchers have learned that the creatures congregate around dead whales and other sunken corpses and dine on the decomposing flesh.  They also know that sea pigs cannot fight back against predators. Instead, they have toxic chemicals in their skin that deter predators from wanting to take a bite.

Dumbing Down of Society

Is it just me or are others noticing a deliberate dumbing down of society? Do the powers that be hope that this society will be easier to shape and mold and less resistant because they'll be too stupid to actually make up their own minds? Think about the stupid non nonsensical children's TV shows like the Telly tubbies or Peppa Pig where they make non verbal 'eh ohs' and grunts. Who in their right mind would even allow their child to watch that crap? Then when they go to school they're now talking about giving kids the right to 'decide their own genders'. I mean SERIOUSLY. What are we trying to create here??? A confused, dumbed down society? MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

Unusual Trees

BY JOYCE KILMER
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.......
